About the brand
Rado is a Swiss watch brand whose origins lie in Schlup & Co., founded in 1917 in Lengnau, Switzerland, by the brothers Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup.
Rado is known for its use of high-tech ceramic, which has become a signature material of the brand. Introduced in 1962, the DiaStar 1 combined a hardmetal case with sapphire crystal and was marketed as the world’s first scratchproof watch. The brand also introduced the Captain Cook diving watch in 1962 and later revived it as part of its collection.
